Abstract

This study was an experimental research on the improvement of water quality in eutrophic lake by chemical coagulation and sedimentation.
The experiments were carried out in other to investigate general operation condition in chemical coagulationand sedementation process at various feed ratio of coagulant. The results derived from this experimental study are below.
(1) Turbiditv and Total Phosphorus removal rate increased with increasing Alum and PAC feed ratio at jar test.
o In case of Alum feed, turbidity and total phosphorus removal rate were 88 and 92 percent for feed ratio =20 mg/Q
o In case of PAC feed, turbidity and total phosphorus removal rate were 95 and 78 percent for feed ratio=0. 15idl-0.
(2) PH in raw water decreased, with increasing feed ratio of Alum and PAC, from 8.8-8.9 to 6.
(3) Turbidity and Total Phosphorus removal rate increased with increasing Alum feed ratio at pilot plant t-est. Simultaneously, pH in raw water decreased from 8.4 - 8.6 to 6.27.3 with increasing Alum feed ratio.
(4) At pilot plant test, optimum feed ratio of Alum was 8.0 vd/min. At this time, turbidity and total phosphorus removal rate were 94 and 80 percent, respective-
(5) Turbidity and Total Phosphorus removal rate were 93 and 72 percent for Alum feed ratio- 9.5 rd/ min .
(6) Pb was not detacted for all feed ratio. Mn and Fe were detacted for Alum feed ratio= 8. Ond/min. At this time, total amount of detaction were 106pg /9 and 33pg /4,v, :respectively.
